Oyo House move to establish the Oyo State Accident Rescue Management Unit

The House resumed today, 10th of October, 2017 after adjournment on the 28th of Sept. 2017. The issues discussed on the floor was firstly the matter of urgent public importance brought to the attention of the House by Hon. Joshua Oyebamiji which was the "Need to Beef Up Security at Pade School of Science due to Recent Armed Robbery".

Hon. (Mrs.) B.O. Oladeji raised a motion of the Need for Establishment of Oyo State Accident Rescue Management Units in an effort to provide first aid and save lives of accidents victims.

It was resolved that the House urge the Executive Arm of Government through the Ministry of Health in collaboration with the Hospital Management Board to

i. Establish the Oyo State Accident Rescue Management Unit, an outfit that will see to the needs of roads accidents victims
ii. Fund and equip the unit with sophisticated medical equipment and health experts who are professionals in handling such cases
iii. Locate the units on roads leading to major cities and border towns in the State
iv. Ensure the centres/units have well equipped ambulances that will treat and transport victims to nearest hospitals
v. Provide towing vehicles to move traffic wreckages and eradicate road obstruction and congestion on accident scene
vi. That (i.) and (v.) above be granted and extended to the rural areas
vii. Allocate dedicated lines through which members of public can contact the emergency unit during such situation
viii. Direct the Committee on Health to look into the state of the existing accident management units in the State and report back to the House on how to enhance and make the units more effective.

Hon. J.A. Kajola (Deputy Chief Whip) raised another motion on the "Need to Resuscitate and Complete the abandoned Ilero Water Scheme" to alleviate the suffering of the community from shortage of potable water due to the facts that contractors abandoned the construction and expansion of the water scheme.

It was resolved that the House

i. Invite the Commissioner and Permanent Secretary Ministry of Environment and Water Resources, General Manager, Water Corporation and Contractors handling the project to explain the circumstances surrounding the non-completion of the Ilero Water Scheme.
ii. Urge the Committee on Water Resources to move round all other water facilities projects and extend enquiry to the abandoned ones
